William S. (Sid) Anderson, Sr.
WILLIAM S. (SID) ANDERSON, SR., a resident of Eureka Springs, was born March 16, 1921, in White Point, Tex., a son of John Madison and Florence Lillian (Cox) Anderson. He died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in his home at the age of 82.
Sid was a sergeant with the Eureka Springs Police Department and a deputy for the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during World War II and the Korean conflict.
On Nov. 28, 1941, he was united in marriage with Lenora Doris (Evans) Anderson who survives him of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Doris and her husband, Bob Hoffman of Springfield, Mo., and Blanche Cate of Springdale, Ark.; seven sons, Bill Anderson and his wife, Sharon of Green Forest, Jimmie Anderson and his wife, Wanda of Lowell, Ark., David Anderson and his wife, Margie of Eureka Springs, Jackie Anderson and his wife, Barbara of Green Forest, Paul Anderson of Eureka Springs, Darrell Anderson and his wife, Daphne of Eureka Springs and Scott Anderson and his wife, Jeanie of Eureka Springs; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Anderson; his grandparents; two brothers, John Anderson and Lawrence Anderson; two sisters, Annie Lottie Ivy and Deanie Dutton; and two sons, John Wesley Anderson and Greg Anderson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville with Pastor Bill Anderson and Pastor Kirk Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Attn: ADA Web, P.O.
