Kenneth D. Bartlett
KENNETH D. BARTLETT, 78, formerly of Jerome, Ida., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Eldorado, Kan. Funeral services were held Aug. 27 at First Assembly of God Church in Augusta, Kan. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
He was born June 28, 1925, at Compton, Ark., to Robert Lee and Ollie Victoria (Plumlee) Bartlett. He grew up in the Compton-Plumlee area of Carroll County. When he was 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Europe during WWII.
Kenneth served his country for a total of 43 years active and reserve duty. During that time he received the Purple Heart, Two Gold Bars and numerous battle ribbons. He and his son, Scott, served time in the military together. He served under Gen. George D. Patton, retiring as Master Sgt. in 1985.
In August, 1946, Kenneth married Pauline (Sims) Bartlett in Harrison, Ark. They moved to Idaho and he worked for Ida-Gem Dairy and the Jerome School District and retired in 1989. In later years they were divorced and Kenneth moved to Augusta and married Mabel Morris.
Kenneth loved camping and fishing with his grandchildren, Beth and Keevan. He also made many trips back to the Ozarks and his home place to visit family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dovie Phillips and Bert Slapes, two brothers, Arlis and Ernest and his first wife, Pauline.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Bartlett, of the home, son and daughter-in-law Schott and Connie Bartlett, and grandson Keevan of Twin Falls, Ida.; granddaughter Beth Bartlett-Browne and great-grandson Bailey Browne, of Boise, Ida.; four step-sons, Bill, Tommy and Frinkie Taylor and Keith Morris; two step-daughters, Jackie (Taylor) Stephenson and Glenna (Morris ) Myers, all of Kansas; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
