Neff Cannafax

NEFF CANNAFAX, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Berryville, a son of John Smith and Laura (Snow) Cannafax. He died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, in Berryville at the age of 86.

Mr. Cannafax was a 1938 graduate of Berryville High School and then taught school at Clearwater School and at New Hope until 1940, when he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served five years in the South Pacific as a Technical Sergeant during World War II and was very proud to be an inspector of the bombers and aircrafts. He was employed by Tyson Foods until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the New Bethel United Baptist Church.

On Dec. 25, 1945 he was united in marriage with Bernice (Fry) Cannafax who survives him of the home. He is also survived by a son, Leonard, and his wife, Everta Cannafax of Springdale, Ark.; two daughters, Lorene Cannafax of Plano, Tex. and Louise and her husband Larry Brooks of Berryville; three grandchildren, Michelle Brooks and her fiance, Wayne Leising of Conway, Ark., Robyn and her husband Josh Capps of Berryville; Amy and her husband James Goolsby of Springdale; a nephew Don and his wife Cindy Sugg of Harrison; several other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Cannafax; and one sister, Ila Jane Sugg.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at the Nelson Chapel in Berryville with Rev. Herb Berkley and Rev. Robert Carson officiating. Interment followed in the Snow Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
