Noel Elbert Harp
NOEL ELBERT HARP died on Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 in the Eureka Springs Hospital at the age of 81 years. He was born in Marble, Ark., on Dec. 29, 1921 to James and Sarah Harp.
Noel married Margie (Haley) Harp who preceded him in death.
Noel was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Turnbough) Harp to whom he married on Jan. 18, 1980; two brothers, Delbert Harp of Green Forest and Lloyd Harp of Sonora; and two sisters, Ada Haley and Elsie Littrell of Marble.
He was a long time resident of Green Forest where he worked for Nelson Funeral Home as a cemetery worker. He has resided for the last several years at the Eureka Springs Nursing Home.
Survivors include a son, Harold and his wife Opal Harp of Anchorage, Alaska; seven step-daughters, Wanda Heads and husband James of Green Forest, Sue Pliler and husband Paul of Springdale, Barbara Logan and husband Junior of Hindsville, Cathy Mercer and husband Wayne of Sullivan, Mo., Arbell Chew and husband Leroy of Cuba, Mo., Bonnie Mercer of Branson, Mo. and Alvina Housewright of Bourbon, Mo.; three step-sons, Robert Turnbough and wife Betty of Springdale, Bill Turnbough and wife Mae of Springdale, Gary Turnbough and wife Kathy of Centerton, Ark.; one brother, Boyd Harp of Green Forest; 40 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by his family and friends and others that knew him.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at the Lower Campground Cemetery with Pastor Larry Montgomery officiating. Honorary casketbearers were Michael Pliler, Jimmy Heads, David Turnbough, Billie Turnbough, Ben Chew and Jay Mercer.
