WALT RECORD, of Alpena, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 in Green Forest, Ark. at the age of 56. He was the son of Roy and Ruth (Meyenberg) Record, born May 27, 1946, in Greenfield, Calif.
Mr. Record had been a resident of Boone County for 30 years and was fire chief of the Alpena Fire Department. He was a member and past president of the Boone County Fire Association and was a volunteer fireman for over 30 years. He owned and operated Record's Wrecker Service. He was a member of the Assenbly of God Church. His parents and his brother, Rick Record, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kay, of the home; three sons, Seth Record of Berryville, John Graves of Alpena, and Michael Graves of Little Rock; three daughters, Robin Record, Tonya Stephens and Shanna Graves, all of Alpena; and 16 grandchildren.
Visitation was set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Christenson Funeral Home in Harrison. Services for Mr. Record are to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Alpena School Gymnasium, with Rev. Tollie Sutterfield and Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Carrollton Cemetery, under the direction of Christenson Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Estep, Tom Riddle, Sam Barrr, Danny Youngblood, Alan Walker, Butch Smith, Aubry Smith and Ronnie "Cotton" Bailey. Honorary pallbearers are the Alpena Fire Department.
Memorial gifts on behalf of Mr. Record may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital or the Alpena Fire Department.
