Mary Ethel Hudson Wallis
Mary Ethel Hudson Wallis, 84, of Berryville, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, in Berryville.
She was born June 30, 1918, in Cozahome, Ark., daughter of William Pope and Emma Katherine (Whillock) Hudson.
Mrs. Wallis was an L.P.N. She attended the Nazarene Church in Berryville. Her father, William Hudson, founded the Marshall Republican, formerly the Marshall Mountain Wave, in Marshall, Ark., and he was a U.S. Marshall in Marion County.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Dianna Wallis of Berryville; her daughter and son-in-law, Hellena and Stan Boyd of Akron, Ohio; her stepson, Russell Wallis and his wife Anna of Theodosia, Mo.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernelle Garrison of Green Forest; and several nieces and nephews.
On Jan. 8, 1933, she married Thomas Jefferson Wallis. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, William and Emma Hudson; a son, Hershall; four brothers; three sisters; and two infants.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 17, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Alton Ashby, the Rev. Freddy Blevins, and Dr. Eric Spann officiating. Interment followed in the Jones Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
