GREEN FOREST ---- A family of three lost their home Monday night, after a fire swept through the structure while they were away.

The home, located about two miles south of Green Forest on County Road 906, was owned by David and Marilyn Bennett, who occupied the structure along with their 13-year-old son, authorities say.

Firefighters raced to the scene at approximately 9 p.m., after a neighbor called 911, but the home was totally engulfed upon their arrival.

Sgt. Alan Hoos, with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, said he is investigating, because the structure was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

Hoos said he plans to ask Arkansas State Police arson investigators for help with the case.

Hoos said the family, who purchased the home in January, lost all their possessions.
