Gladys (Salmon) Kimes, 80, of Berryville, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, from a fall at her home in Berryville.
She was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Bass, Ark., daughter of Tom and Mary (Taylor) Salmon.
On May 25, 1940, she married Raymond Kimes. She and her husband were active partners in Kimes Auto Supply for 20 years before retiring to their farm in 1970.
Mrs. Kimes lived in Berryville for 51 years, where she was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a cancer survivor, and she was always busy helping others and caring for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Kimes, of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Abe Akel of Harrison; three grandchildren, Bill Rogers and wife Paula of Harrison, Shelby Beth Rogers of Fayetteville, and Becca Rogers Helble and husband Steve of Austin, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Clark and Hunter Rogers of Harrison, and Mack Helble of Austin; three sisters, Bethel Dodson of Harrison, Imogene Fortenberry of Russellville, and Pat Salmon of Dallas; three brothers, Bill Salmon of Harrison, and Joe and Zeke Salmon of Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mary Salmon; and three brothers, Earl, J. Roy, and Gordon Salmon.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 4, at Christeson Funeral Home, 519 North Spring, Harrison.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the Berryville Church of Christ, with Kevin Cauley officiating, under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Harrison. Pallbearers are Glenn Quigley, Bill Fort, Leon Duncan, Bruce Foster, Clay Bozarth, Rusty Windle, Brent Stevens, Ken Smith, Glen Williams, and Bob Moore.
