Edna Louvena Popplewell
Edna Louvena Popplewell, 100, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at Harrison Nursing Center in Harrison.
She was born October 19, 1902, at Batavia, daughter of Peter and Mahalia Thacker Daniel.
Mrs. Popplewell was a housewife and a resident of Carroll County for many years, with a prior residence in Wichita, Kan.
A lifelong Christian and Bible scholar, Mrs. Popplewell joined the United Baptist Church of Green Forest in 1978. She was very active in her church and many civic organizations. She received a Certificate of Merit for 50 years of service in the Arkansas Association for Family and Community Education. She was a certified fair judge on home furnishings, arts and crafts and quilting and needlework. She was also a certified flower show judge.
In 1988, she organized the Busy Bee ECH Club and was president for six years. She helped with getting the signs at the city limits of Green Forest, planting trees in the city park and at the Green Forest School, and obtaining a bird feeder for Berryville nursing home. She belonged to the hospital auxiliary, and she received a pin each year for 1000 hours of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Alex Studyvin, J.B. Bunch, and Albert Popplewell; a daughter, Beverly Ann; a son, Frank Paul Studyvin; a stepdaughter, Alberta Durant; a son-in-law, Jack Reeves; a grandson, Jackson Reeves; great-grandson, Paul Alexander Studyvin; four sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include a son, Clarence Studyvin of Derby, Kan.; a daughter, Thelma Reeves of Harrison; four grandsons, Bill and Ken Reeves of Harrison, Rick Studyvin of Derby, Kan., and Rodney Studyvin of Rogers; a granddaughter, Gwen Studyvin of Derby; four great-granddaughters; six great-grandsons; a great-great-grandson; a sister, Beuna Parkinson of Harrison; two brothers, Lee Daniel of Harrison, and Peter H. Daniel of Alpena; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 3, at Nelson Funeral Home in Green Forest, with Pastor Jerry Spurlock officiating. Burial was at Glenwood Cemetery in Green Forest.
Pallbearers were Rodney Studyvin, Clayton Studyvin, Billy Reeves, Blake Reeves, Jessica Reeves, Robin Reeves, Randy Daniel, Jimmie Payne, Bill Reeves and Ken Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers were Margaret Smart, Leonard Smart, Geneva West, Betty McCullough, Juanita Lawrence, all friends of the United Baptist Church and the Busy Bee Club, and the staff of Harrison Nursing Home.
