Prayer requested at 3:33 p.m., 3-3-03
While Carroll Regional Medical Center will observe Worldwide Day of Prayer for its employees on Monday, March 3, a call to prayer is also making the rounds on the local Christian grapevine, which coincides with the international observance.
The World Prayer Team is calling on all Christian churches and individuals to set aside time to pray at 3:33 p.m. in their time zone on March 3, 2003, as part of the Worldwide Day of Prayer. That same request has been circulating informally in United Methodist, Assembly of God, Apostolic and Four-Square denominational circles in Carroll County and nearby Missouri.
CRMC's interdenominational service is slated for 3-3:30 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria, and will include prayer for military personnel. Persons are welcome to submit names of friends and family in the military, which will be included of a list of persons to be prayed for.
With the threat of a U.S. war with Iraq pressing closer, the World Prayer Team is imploring all Christians globally to set aside Monday, March 3, 2003 as a Worldwide Day of Prayer.
According to Ted Haggard, president of the World Prayer Team, "The call comes amongst reports that the Holy Spirit is stirring the hearts of thousands with the same message, and is also an appeal to counteract worldly religious forces that may be active on the same day."
Haggard says his office is "flooded with messages from people worldwide unknown to each other, saying God is impressing upon them all to prepare to pray on 03-03-03.
"These believers do not know that the others are saying the same thing. Clearly the Holy Spirit is speaking to His church, and He is calling His people to pray," says Haggard.
"As these reports began to come in, we sensed in our hearts that God wants us to promote a huge outpouring of prayer on this special date," Haggard continued. "Many believe its numerical sequence (03-03-03) reminds Christians of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit has highlighted Jeremiah 33:3 as our call to action."
("Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." King James Version)
