Lucy Nadine Root
Lucy Nadine Root, 65, of Kingston, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 24, 1936, in the Metalton community of Carroll County, a daughter of Franklin Warren and Lillie Sarah May (Ramsey) Wilson.
Mrs. Root was a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Metalton United Baptist Church and Elkhorn Church.
On April 2, 1959, she married Donald Ray Root, who survives her. She is also survived by two sons, Steven Root and wife Angela, and Anthony Root and wife Regina, all of Kingston; two daughters, Janet Easterling and husband Terry of Springdale, and Diane Metcalfe and husband Vernon of Clifty; eight grandchildren, Pamela and Rae Dell Easterling of Springdale, Tyler and Chandra Root of Kingston, Luke and Jacob Root of Kingston, Melinda Metcalfe of Clifty, and Melissa Ogden of Huntsville; four sisters, Verna Fancher, Ida Gage and Linda Armer, all of Metalton, and Loretta Ross of Berryville; five brothers, Verlin Wilson of Springdale, Dearl Wilson of Marble, Tom Wilson of Green Forest, Gary Wilson of Metalton, and Don Wilson of Metalton; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by an infant brother, J.C. Wilson; and by an infant sister, Mary Lou Wilson.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 27, at the Metalton United Baptist Church, with pastors Jerry Spurlock and Mike Montgomery officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
