Roy R. Beckley

Roy R. Beckley, 65, of Eagle Rock, Mo., died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Skaggs Community Health Center, Branson, Mo.

He was born Nov. 11, 1936, in South Park County, Colo., the son of Leo Robert and Arthel Charlotte (Bennett) Beckley. He received his education in Plainville, Kan., where he graduated from high school in 1954. He worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company in Kansas and Nebraska.

On June 8, 1958, in Cleghorn, Iowa, he married Mary Frederick. In 1965, they moved to Valentine, Neb., where he was employed by Reese Hardware and later First National Bank. In 1992, they moved to Missouri, where he owned and operated "Uncle Roy's Store" in Eagle Rock.

He was a member of All Faith United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Pythagores Masonic Lodge 383, Shell Knob Shrine Club, the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Lions Club, Mano Community Association, and of the Eagle Rock Community Association, where he was president for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Frederick Beckley; a son, Kory Beckley of Eagle Rock; a daughter, Karla Marley of Ava, Mo.; two granddaughters, Amanda LeVelle and husband Brian, and Mary Marley; two great-grandsons, Stetson and Augustus LeVelle; a great-granddaughter, Montana Levelle; a brother, Ted Beckley of Williams, Ariz.; three sisters, Ruby Rempe and Geneva Bedore of Plainville, Kan., and Alice Castka of Sallisaw, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Mabel Frederick of Jefferson, Iowa; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Beckley of Naturita, Colo., Joan Shape and husband Richard of Gahanna, Ohio, Sandra Mitchell of Cleveland, Minn., and Doris Frederick of Cleghorn, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Robert Frederick and wife Hazel of Jefferson, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Denny and Gene Beckley; and six brothers-in-law, Lewis Rempe, Omar Bedore, Ron Castka, Darwin Frederick, Richard Mitchell, and Dean Frederick.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 22, at All Faith United Methodist Church, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Mo., with the Rev. Denzil Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Mano Cemetery, Eagle Rock.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the All Faith United Methodist Church, the Eagle Rock Fire Department, or Mano Cemetery.
