Blanche Maye (Swofford) Summers

Blanche Maye (Swofford) Summers, 85, of rural Berryville, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, in Berryville.

She was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Berryville, the daughter of Clarence and Alta (Plumlee) Swofford. She accepted

Christ as her Saviour at an early age.

Mrs. Summers taught school in several rural schools in Carroll County, and she was a retired homemaker.

On Aug. 27, 1938, she married Tim Summers, who survives her. She is also survived by three sons, Vernone Summers of Berryville, Loren Summers of Hot Springs, and Tim Summers, Jr., of Bentonville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Ruby Keeland, Ruth Freeman, Vada Austin, and Evelene Loftin, all of Tulsa, Okla.; and a brother, Archie Swofford of Berryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 25, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Interment followed in the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
