Helen Louise Corkran, 80, of Rector, Ark., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Rector.

She was born March 11, 1921, in Rector, to Floyd Winn and Lois Cox Winn.

On Nov. 16, 1941, in Little Rock, she married Lexie E. Corkran. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by a daughter, Cylvia Corkran, in 1957.

She lived in the Rector community most of her life. She also lived in Phoenix, Ariz., and in Eureka Springs.She worked with her husband as a photographic assistant, in their portrait studio. At one time she was a columnist for the Clay County Democrat. She was a member of the Rector First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Camellia Corkran of Rector, and Cynthia Corkran of Eureka Springs; an aunt, Lena Marlar of Rector; cousins, Jewell Dean Cranford, Eula Jean Haywood, Sue Riggs, and Jim Marlar; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Rector, with the Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, under the direction of Irby Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Leland Blackshare, Wiley Wayland, Charles Long, Stephen Crancer, Buddy Dills, Allen Earls, Alan Crancer, and Dean Goodman. Honorary pallbearers were Doyne Webb, Byron Underwood, Maurice Bateman, and Dan McBride.
