ES council approves property owner’s appeal

With the Eureka Springs City Council’s approval, Damon Henke is moving forward with a bed and breakfast at his property at 19 Thomas Drive. Henke appealed the Eureka Springs Planning Commission’s decision to deny his application for a conditional use permit for three units of bed and breakfast lodging at the council’s Monday night meeting, saying none of his neighbors were opposed to his request. ...

GF man dies in motorcycle accident

A Green Forest man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident. According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, 63-year-old Jerry Tate Baker was riding a 2001 Harley-Davidson westbound on U.S. Highway 62 at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday when he crossed the center line while negotiating a curve. The report says Baker’s motorcycle then traveled off the south side of the highway and struck a highway sign...

Superintendent Owen Powell said the district contacted counselors Wednesday to prepare them for any students, teachers or family who need counseling.
