HI board approves golf study but restricts options

HOLIDAY ISLAND -- Holiday Island commissioners moved forward Monday with approval of a bid to do a golf operations study, but in so doing they limited the recommendations that can be brought back to them. The study's original intent was to get an outside, independent, objective analysis of all golf operations at Holiday Island for both the 9- and 18-hole courses, in an attempt to determine how best to reduce the more than $300,000 subsidy taken from property owner assessments each year for that amenity. ...

At the 2:51 mark of the first quarter Friday night, Berryville's Timmond Turner sacked Gravette quarterback Bryce Moorman to put the Lions in a third-and-18 situation. Airport commissioners keep eye on county budget talks

The Carroll County Airport Commission met Thursday, and members of the commission planned to take an active role in pressing the quorum court to approve the commission's budget for the coming year. Tasha Flanagin, vice president and marketing director for First National Bank of North Arkansas, presented Loaves & Fishes Food Bank a check for $1,855 check on behalf of the bank Friday, Oct. 17. The money came from a weekly fundraiser. On Fridays, employees of the bank can donate $5 in exchange for being allowed to wear jeans that day. BV's Sigmon shines at state fair pageant

Kylee Sigmon didn't win the Arkansas State Fair Queen Pageant, but she advanced further than anyone from Carroll County in years. Sigmon, a senior at Berryville High School, finished in the top 12 at the pageant Saturday. She is the first Miss Carroll County to advance that far since Ashley Worley in 1998. Hospital CEO: New facility will be built in Eureka Springs
