The third Saturday of every month the Carroll County Airport hosts a fly-in and breakfast, served in its beautiful, award winning terminal. In January it was converted to a chili lunch, and the weather that day was ideal for flying.

An experimental airplane called an RV 6 taxies from the parking area to the runway after attending the monthly fly-in at the Carroll County Airport Saturday. It was estimated that between 25–30 planes of various types flew to the airport to have a chili lunch and visit with other pilots from across the region. The fly-in is held every third Saturday, usually serving breakfast. But since the day was forecast to be sunny and warm it was moved to a lunch event. Many of the pilots and flying enthusiasts alike gathered in front of the airport's award-winning terminal building/pilot lounge to watch the planes take off and land. The racy RV 6 took off and then thrilled the group with a flyby over the runway before making a sharp climbing turn to the north.
