Christmas is time for sharing, reflecting

We at Carroll County News will never have enough staff, time or space in our pages to accurately reflect the depth of sharing that goes on in Carroll County. From the dozens of sheriff's deputies, local police officers and paramedics who participate each year in Shop With a Cop, taking underprivileged children shopping for Christmas gifts; to the Eureka Springs Rotary Club, police department and school counselor Rachal Hyatt spearheading the Angel Tree program; from the Berryville School District children collecting more than two tons of food for the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank recently; to the Eureka Springs Garden Club ladies plus a few Holiday Island volunteers who chipped in to give Christmas gift goodie bags -- many of them hand-made -- to nearly 100 needy pre-schoolers and first-graders .... ...
Enjoying a little time off; and dealing with those growing pains

October sure has been a busy month! I was able to take a few days off week before last and travel for a long weekend to my annual bluegrass music "mecca," Yonder Mountain String Band's Harvest Music Festival north of Ozark. It was a lot of fun -- despite the weather not really cooperating much -- but more importantly, I discovered some new things about myself during my three-day adventure. You might even say I felt some growing pains!...

Previously, I wrote in a column about being on the hunt for a home church here in Carroll County, since I'm new to the area. My fiance and I have visited several wonderful churches full of friendly, loving people who made us feel welcome immediately...
