Description: Poetry, Pottery & Pies, a fundraiser for Clayton Scott, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Arsaga's at Crossover. Scott, Fayetteville's official Poet Laureate, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Money raised from the effort will go toward outstanding medical bills. The suggested donation is $10 at the door. In addition, checks made out to Clayton Scott may be mailed to the Ozark Poets and Writers Collective (OPWC), P.O. Box 3717, Fayetteville, AR 72702-3717. Poetry, Pottery & Pies will feature a silent auction of donated pies and art pottery. Performers will include poet Brenda Moossy, Geoff Olesner playing music and reading original works, and slam poet Doug Shields. Scott also will read and perform. For more information, call Betsy Gross of OPWC at 313-7268.
Scott holds an M.F.A. degree in writing from Spalding University in Louisville, Ken., and he's a published poet and photographer. He will be presenting a one-man show entitled 'Down in Littletown' in November at Dickson Street Theater.
The Ozark Poets & Writers Collective, based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is a forum for creators who work in words. OPWC's mission is to support and promote community involvement in Ozark literary arts; to encourage an appreciation of local writers by providing access to their work through readings, publications, workshops, and other events and activities as demand and need become evident; and to ensure that the experience of writing and reading remain a vital part of life in the Ozarks.
