Record-setting weekend: Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast"

"Beauty and the Beast" roars to $350 million worldwide over its opening weekend.
LOS ANGELES — As expected, Beauty and the Beast dominates the weekend box office with $170 million domestically and $180 million internationally for a jaw-dropping $350 million weekend! The giant sum is a new record for a film opening in the month of March. It is also the seventh all-time opening domestically by any film!
FYI - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice held the record for biggest opening weekend in March with $166 million domestically, until along came the Beast.
Kong: Skull Island finished second with $28.8 million and Logan came in third with $17.5 million. The Belko Experiment crashed and burned with $4 million total. "Belko" was nothing short of an abomination, as it opened in 7th place. With a budget of $5 million, and what's sure to be awful word-of-mouth, hopefully "Belko" producers take the hint and don't try to expand on that sequel-setup of an ending.
