'STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS' Already Breaking Box Office Records

With less than a month until the opening of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," it is clear that anticipation to the see the new installment of the epic franchise is at a fevered pitch.
Advance ticket sales have now officially reached $50 million, which Fandango confirmed with Variety. And this new milestone still has four weeks to swell. The previous record holder was "The Hunger Games" (2012), which earned $25 million in advance tickets.
"The Force Awakens" is on a full throttle, hyper-drive rampage to shatter every major box office record, if the film can maintain momentum and ensure repeat business.
The highest-grossing film of all time is "Avatar" (2009), with over $2.7 billion at the box office. The film brought in over $77 million on its opening weekend with $26 million on the day it was released.
Star Wars still has some work to do though to catch the record holder for opening weekends on the Silver Screen. This past summer "Jurassic World" took that honor with over $208 million.
And "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" (2011) should definitely be worried. The young magician holds the opening day record at $91 million. Star Wars is already half way there and hasn't even opened in a single cinema yet.
With a new Star Wars film planned yearly through 2020, it will not take Disney all that long to begin making profits off of their $4 billion purchase of Lucasfilm.
May the Force be with you, as it is certainly free-flowing and unfettered with Disney Studios now.
