'BRIDGET JONES' Returns, New Book Gets Release Date

Author Helen Fielding and her publishers discussed the imminent return of spinster turned romantic Bridget Jones in her latest adventure "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy."
The new book will be released by UK publisher Jonathan Cape on October 10, 2013 and then on October 15, 2013 by American publisher Alfred A. Knopf.
Speculation on a movie adaptation is still up in the air, but early reports in 2011 had a third film all but certain to hit theaters. However, actor Colin Firth revealed in an interview earlier this year that the movie may or may not happen.
"Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a long wait," Firth told the Chicago Sun Times back in April. "I wouldn't say that it's completely dead in the water, but the way it's going you might be seeing Bridget Jones's granddaughter's story being told by the time we get there."
"There is a joy of doing those movies that keeps hope alive," Firth continued. "And the story is going in an interesting direction. I just wouldn't say that the movie is imminent."
"Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" sold over 15 million copies between the two titles, while their motion picture incarnations grossed over $500 million worldwide.
