Steven graduated Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications, focusing on film studies, journalism and theatre arts. Dubbed a "prolific" writer by Hollywood icon Kenneth Johnson (The Incredible Hulk, V, The Bionic Woman, Alien Nation), Steven has been honored by the Arkansas College Media Association for his story writing prowess. He has also received recognition for his dramatic writing from the Eerie, Shriekfest and Screamfest horror film festivals. Publications include: Carroll County News, Saline Courier, Forum, Echo and Moroch.

Seven Years Later: "SCARY MOVIE 5"

Fans clamoring for yet another Scary Movie installment, be careful what you wish for. This spring Dimension Films will release "Scary Movie 5" just prior to the blockbuster summer season featuring the likes of "Iron Man 3," "Man of Steel" and "Star Trek Into Darkness."

Sadly, from the looks of the trailer (below), the new Scary entry is going to be devoid of laughter. I didn't even chuckle, not one time, and I am praying that this is a case of not overplaying their hand. In most instances, bad films tend to place the funniest moments in trailers to draw an audience. I'm worried, but I'm hoping that the movie itself is loaded with laugh-out-loud moments.

Noticeably absent from the cast is both Anna Faris and Regina Hall. Both actresses appeared in the original "Scary Movie" (2000) and the subsequent sequels of the franchise. The Wayans Brothers are still missing in action, since "Scary Movie 2" (2001) and I'm fearful that their wit and creativity will also be M.I.A.

Much more promising is the upcoming horror spoof "A Haunted House," which features Marlon Wayans as both writer and actor (see trailer below). It seems he may have drained all the funny from "Paranormal Activity" (2007) and left "Scary Movie 5" with only fond memories of its former filmmakers' ingenuity.

"Scary Movie 5" opens on April 12, 2013 and stars Ashley Tisdale, Terry Crews, Kate Walsh, Chris Elliott, Molly Shannon, Jerry O'Connell, Mike Tyson, Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan.

"A Haunted House" opens on January 11, 2013.
