NEW YORK — To say that Brett Gardner was struggling offensively would be a huge understatement. Gardy hadn't hit a home run, or even collected an RBI, in the first month of the new season. But all that changed in today's game against the Baltimore Orioles (14-8). In his first 2 at-bats, Gardner launched two homers with four RBIs and two runs scored which propelled the New York Yankees (15-7) to a 12-4 victory and first place in the A.L. East. There were plenty of dingers to go around in today's game, as outfielder Aaron Judge hit his 10th home run of the season, while catcher Austin Romine hit his 2nd tater of 2017. Romine also recorded a team-high five RBIs today. Caleb Joseph led the dirty birds offensively going 2-of-4 at the plate with a homer and two RBIs. Michael Pineda (3-1) got his third victory this season, while Ubaldo Jimenez (1-1) took the loss for Baltimore.
