The "cute as a button" Alpaca
Are you looking for a terrific family outing this weekend? National Alpaca Farm Days is this Saturday and Sunday, September 27th and 28th: Alpaca farms nationwide--and right here in Carroll County--will open their farms to the public. These "Open Farms" events are a great time to get out to alpaca farms and learn about alpacas, their background, their fleece, and what the handy crafts person can make with it. You can also learn about the tax benefits of owning alpacas, the costs of raising them, and of course, how baby alpacas are made. The kids will love it!
Dan and Carola White are the hosts for Carroll County's National Alpaca Farm days. They invite you to join them at Arrowpoint Farm, as they open their barn to the public this Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Last year the White's hosted more than 80 people, and "we would love to break that number," says owner Dan White.
"We will have some alpacas in a stall, alpaca fleece, roving, yarn, and finished products, as well as some informational materials. We'll also have some refreshments available. Above all, we'd just love your company."
Arrowpoint Farm is near Berryville on Hwy 21 North about 8 miles near Cosmic Cavern. Just before the cavern turn left on County Road 425 and follow the "Alpaca" signs for about 3 1/2 miles.
